OTTAWA, Kan. - Ottawa University’s baseball program has announced the signing of Jake Loucks to a letter of intent for the 2010-2011 school year. He is from Emporia, Kan. and attended Emporia High School.

Loucks, a pitcher/infielder/outfielder, was a three time All-Centennial League performer for Emporia High School and earned first team honors in 2010. He helped lead his American Legion team to the Glen Winget Memorial Tournament Championship and was named to the all-tournament team.

“Jake is a special young man that combines outstanding success in the classroom and on the diamond. He is an ultra competitor and wants to be on a successful team,” said OU head coach Joe Reed. “Jake is an all around athlete and will look to come in and compete immediately for our team this season. He will definitely see time on the mound for us and will also have shot at playing on the infield as well as some in the outfield. Jake is a strong player that can hit, run, throw exceptionally well and has a great understanding of the game. He possesses a tremendous work ethic and comes from a very supportive family and coaching staff. We are thrilled to add Jake to our Braves program.”

Loucks is the son of Sandy and Gary Loucks and plans to major in exercise science.
