OTTAWA, Kan. - Ottawa University’s men’s basketball program has announced the signing of Allen Barden for the upcoming 2010-2011 school year. He is from Wamego, Kan. and attends Wamego High School.

Barden, a 6’8” center, was a two year letterman on the basketball court for the Red Raiders. He averaged eight points and one block per game. Barden was a member of the National Honor Society, an Eagle Scout and was a FBLA State Delegate in 2010.

“Allen Barden is an outstanding student that is willing and excited to work hard on his game and in the weight room. He is 6‘8 and has good hand,” said OU head coach Andy Carrier. “He will need to add muscle and develop in our junior varsity program for a couple of years to reach the varsity level but he has not yet come close to reaching his potential in basketball. We are very happy he has chosen OU.

Barden is the son of Charles and Dianne Barden and plans to major in business administration.
