OTTAWA, Kan. - Ottawa University’s women’s basketball program has announced the signing of Amber Ramsey for the 2010-2011 season. She is from Olathe, Kan. and attends Olathe Northwest High School.
“I’m excited Amber has decided to continue her academic and basketball career here at OU. Amber has tremendous up-side with her game,” said OU head coach Bruce Tate. “She will add some much needed size, versatility, and mobility to our front court. Her ability to run the floor and rebound will be an asset to our style of play and program.”
Ramsey, a 5’11” forward, lettered three years in basketball and three years in track for the Ravens. She helped Olathe Northwest to the 2008-09 Kansas 6A State Tournament. Ramsey earned honorable mention All-Sunflower League and was recognized as a NAIA Champions of Character in 2010. During the 2009-10 season, Ramsey led the team in field goal percentage (42%), blocks (45) and earned the Raven Award. In 2008-09 Ramsey shot 50 percent from the floor.
“Amber is a great Christian young lady, with tons of character,” said Tate. “I expect her to do great things in all aspects of her college experience; she is an outstanding fit for our program.”
Ramsey is the daughter of Mike and Vicky Ramsey and plans to major in physical education.
