Baseball Falls to MidAmerica Nazarene

OLATHE, Kan. - The Braves were not able to hold on to its lead, falling 4-3 to MidAmerica Nazarene University on Wednesday afternoon. 

The Pioneers took an early 1-0 lead on the Braves in the bottom of the second inning. OU answered in the top of the third when Josh Sturm's double scored Dustin Balmer, tying the game at one all. Neither team scored again until the seventh inning when Ruben Olaguez and Balmer scored giving OU a 3-1 lead. MNU tied the game, 3-3, in the bottom of the seventh off of a two run homerun by Dave Staton. 

MNU took the game in the bottom of the ninth inning on the game winning hit by Kevin Liddle, scoring Ben Alison and giving the Pioneers the 4-3 victory. 

Sturm was 5-for-5 with two RBI and a double and Jon Breedlove had OU's other double. Steve Marks pitched seven innings, striking out five. Gustavo Sanchez picked up the loss. He pitched 1.1 innings, striking out two.

Up next for the Braves (5-6) is a home game on Saturday, March 13th versus Central Christian College. Game one of the double header is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
