OTTAWA, Kan. - Ottawa University’s baseball program has announced the signing of Jake Kolenda to a letter of intent for the 2010-2011 school year. He is from Kansas City, Kan. and attends Bishop Ward High School.
Kolenda, a right handed pitcher and second baseman, was a three year letter winner for the Cyclones. He helped Bishop Ward High to the 2009 Baseball Kansas 4A State Semifinals.
“Jake is coming into the Ottawa Baseball program from a highly recognized Kansas City area high school, Bishop Ward. He is used to top instruction and competing for Kansas State High School Athletic Association Championships perennially,” said OU head coach Joe Reed. “Jake understands the game, knows how to play and will make a great addition to our squad. He is one of, if not the top RHP for Bishop Ward and also plays second base. Jake possesses good arm strength, good range, and quick hands. Highly recruited by several Kansas City area colleges, Kolenda chose Ottawa University and the Braves Baseball program to continue his baseball career.”
Kolenda is the son of Matt and Angie Kolenda and plans to major in accounting.
