OTTAWA, Kan. - Ottawa University’s baseball program has announced the signing of Solomon Haberkost a letter of intent for the 2009-2010 school year. He is from Medina, Ohio and has transferred to OU from Cleveland State University. He will be a junior this season and a member of the OU pitching staff.
Haberkost, a left handed pitcher, earned two letters for the Vikings. As a sophomore he pitched 14 innings with 16 strikeouts. During his freshman season Haberkost had three appearances, striking out five. In high school he lettered three years for Buckeye High. Haberkost led the Bucks to four league championships.
“Solomon is one of those types of players that can make an immediate impact at our level and will definitely bolster our pitching staff. He has a plus arm with control and excellent understanding of how to pitch which makes him very projectable for the next level that scouts desire as the amateur draft approaches next summer,” said OU head coach Joe Reed. “Solomon displays a passion to compete and makes the entire team excited to reach the next level. We are thrilled to have Solomon as the newest member of the OU Braves Baseball Team.”
Haberkost is the son of Daniel and Sandy Haberkost and plans to major in exercise science.
