WICHITA, Kan. - The Lady Braves picked up their first victory of the season with a 67-46 victory over Hillsdale Freewill Baptist College at the Garvey Center in the Friends Classic on Friday night. It was the first meeting between the two schools in women's basketball.
The Lady Braves had two players in double figure scoring led by Paige Gibson's 16 points on 6-13 shooting from the floor. For the second game in a row Maggie Hasenkamp scored in double figures for OU. She had 12 points on 4-7 shooting from behind the three point line. For the game Ottawa was on fire from behind the arc, the Lady Braves were 13-26 for 50 percent from behind the three point line.
For the game OU was 25-69 from the floor for 36.2 percent while Hillsdale Freewill Baptist was 18-41 for 43.9 percent. Ottawa lead in points in the paint 25-8 and had a 43-32 lead in rebounding.
OU (1-1) will play Central Methodist University in the second game of the Friends Classic on Saturday, Nov. 7th at 2:00 p.m.
