Birch Sets New Career Scoring Mark

WINFIELD, Kan. – Ottawa University men’s basketball player David Birch, broke the all-time scoring record on Thursday night versus Southwestern College in Winfield, Kan. in OU’s 106-100 victory over the Moundbuilders. Birch was one of four Braves to reach double figures, leading the way with 26 points.

Birch broke the old mark of 1,885 set by OU NAIA All-American Cavazos Cumming (1992-1996) during the first half on a fast break layup. He now has 1,908 and is only 92 points away from becoming the first Brave, man or woman, to score over 2,000 points.

The Braves (10-7, 5-2) will travel to Hillsboro, Kan. to play Tabor College on Saturday, Jan. 17th. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m.
