Women's Basketball Signs a NCAA Division I Transfer
OTTAWA, Kan. - Ottawa University’s women’s basketball program has announced the signing of Marie Goyette to a letter of intent for the upcoming school year. She is from Overland Park, Kan. and is a transfer from the University of Tennessee – Martin. Goyette will have one year of eligibility left at OU.

“Marie is an outstanding addition to our basketball program,” said OU head coach Bruce Tate. “She’s a very athletic and long player that will be able to play multiple positions on both ends of the floor in our system.”

Goyette, a 5’11” guard, is a three year collegiate letter winner in basketball. Three times last season, Goyette led UTM in scoring and in rebounding, including a 20 point performance versus the University of Texas-Pan American. Goyette appeared in 29 games last season, starting 10 for the Skyhawks. She was selected to the Cyclone Classic, hosted by Iowa State University, All-Tournament team last season for UTM. Goyette averaged six points and four rebounds per game last year as a junior. She shot 36 percent from the floor and 33 percent from behind the three point line.

“Offensively, she has a knack for scoring the basketball. Her ability to score a variety ways from the perimeter will complement our post game,” said Tate. “Defensively, she has the potential to be very solid; she has the ability to disrupt the basketball in passing lanes and on shots with her length.”

Goyette is the daughter of Roy and Mary Goyette and plans to major in recreation and sports administration.

“I’m extremely excited Marie has decided to join our basketball program,” said Tate. “Her experience and leadership will be an immediate impact to our team.”
