OTTAWA, Kan. - Ottawa University’s women’s basketball program has announced the signing of Jacqueline Robinson to a letter of intent for the upcoming school year. She is from El Paso, Texas and attended Jesus Chapel School.
“Jacqueline is a great addition to our basketball program and campus. Her positive attitude and outstanding character speaks for itself, she is a class act on and off the hardwood,” said OU head coach Bruce Tate. “Jacqueline is a good little athlete who had a solid high school career at Jesus Chapel in volleyball, basketball, and track. Her passion to compete and be successful will be an asset to our team.”
Robinson, a 5’5” guard, lettered four years in basketball, track and volleyball for the Chargers. She helped the Chargers to the Elite Eight at state. Robinson averaged 13 points, five steals, three rebounds and three assists per game last season. She was an all-district selection for four years and earned Honorable Mention All-State and All-City in 2006 and again in 2007. Robinson was a first team all-state selection in 2008 and earned second team all-city honors as well. She was selected to play in the TAPPS All-Star Game this past June in San Antonio, Texas.
“Jacqueline displays the ability to be a vocal leader on the offensive end and initiates and applies a great amount of pressure on the defensive at the point guard position,” said Tate. “I’m excited to see how quickly she will be able to make the transition from high school to college at such a demanding position.”
Robinson is the daughter of Eva Robinson and plans to major in biology.
“She will have a great opportunity to compete and develop in our sub varsity program right away to learn and adjust to our system,” said Tate. “I’m looking forward to working with her and I’m thrilled she has decided to become a Lady Brave.”
