TOPEKA, Kan. - The OU women's tennis team competed at the Wheat State Games hosted by Emporia State University on Friday, Sept. 8 and Saturday, Sept. 9.
Nicole Robbins earned a 6-3, 6-5 victory in her first match of the day but was defeated in the semifinals in a three set battle by Missiouri Valley College's Straznicky. Stephanie Rodriquez took a three set win over Groene from Barton Community College. She had to with draw in her second match due to injury. Ashley good won her quarterfinal match over Kansas Wesleyan University's Daugherty.
In doubles, Robbins and Good fell in their first contest to Sagalai and Lemberger from William Woods. The duo rebounded to take an 8-1 victory over Kansas Wesleyan's Mendoza and Lantz. Robbins and Good were defeated in the third place match by Washburn's Lysaught and Gonzales, 8-0.
The Braves will now compete in the KCAC Individual Championships on Friday, Sept. 15 in Winfield, Kan. The tournament is scheduled to start at 8:00 a.m.
