CLERMONT, Fla. – The OU softball team's season ended on Monday with a 4-0 loss to no. 8 and fourth seeded Davenport University in an elimination game at the NAIA Softball World Series.
After a scoreless first two innings of play, Davenport took a 1-0 lead over the Braves in the top of the third inning. The Panthers increased their lead to 2-0 with another run in the top of the fourth.
DU pushed one more run across in the top of the sixth and seventh, taking the 4-0 victory. The Braves left seven runners on base, leaving Jenna Stigge and Kori Lacey stranded twice. OU had four hits on the day, with Lacey leading OU with two. Molli Morgan pitched all seven innings in the loss.
The Braves finish the season with a school record 40 wins (40-19) and won its first KCAC regular season championship since 2010 with a record of 18-4. After starting KCAC play 1-4, the Braves won 17 straight regular season games to win the KCAC Championship. The Braves finished its win streak at 18 after a loss in the second game of the KCAC Tournament. OU won its first NAIA Opening Round Championship and earned its first victory in the NAIA Softball World Series.
