EMPORIA, Kan. – The OU men's outdoor track and field team opened the 2017 outdoor season at the ESU Spring Invitational on Friday evening. The meet was hosted by Emporia State University.
James Wilson-Shirah competed in the 100M for the Braves. He finished 16th, running a time of 11.04. Wilson-Shirah also ran in the 200M, finishing 38th with a time of 23.15. CJ Whitaker also competed in the 200M. He ran a time of 24.38 to place 54th.
Isaiah Messic finished 28th in the 400M, running a time of 2:10.15. The Braves had three student-athletes competing in the 5000M. They were Joseph Bergthold, and Brandon Hensley. Bergthold ran a time of 17:07.33 to finish 16th and Hensley placed 17th with a time of 17:22.30.
In the 110M Hurdles, Whitaker ran a time of 15.73 to place 10th. Logan Mong placed 22nd in the long jump, finishing with a jump of 18-01.50. He competed in the triple jump as well. Mong finished with a jump of 39-08.75 to place 14th.
Michael Jensen placed 11th in the shot put with a throw of 48-06.00. Tyler Hooks competed in the shot put as well, placing 17th with a throw of 44-06.00. Enrique Bordallo placed 20th in the javelin with a person best throw of 142-00.
The Braves are back on the track on Saturday, April 1 at the Emporia Relays hosted by Emporia State University.
