EMPORIA, Kan. – The OU women's outdoor track and field team opened the season at the ESU Spring Invitational on Friday evening. The event was hosted by Emporia State University.
Saige Weaver and Madison Gordon competed in the 100M for the Braves. Weaver finished 38th with a time of 13.14. Gordon ran a time of 15.67 to finish 46th. Weaver also competed in the 200M along with Chyane McNeal. Weaver ran a time of 28.332, finishing 53rd and McNeal finished with a time of 28.339 to place 54th.
McNeal and Sydney Coleman competed in the 400M. McNeal ran a time of 1:06.26 to place 30th and Coleman finished with a time of 1:06.15 to finish 29th.
In the 5000M, Chisholm Branscum ran a time of 19:58.16 to finish eighth. Bryanna Music, fresh off of her NAIA All-American selection in indoor track and field in the weight throw, finished fourth in the shot put. She had a throw of 44-08.25 and was the highest NAIA finisher.
Music finished second in the hammer throw with a toss of 163-05. Laura Yancey had a throw of 125-10 in the javelin to finish eighth. Kylie Wood also competed in the javelin. She finished 28th with a toss of 71-06.
The Braves are back in action on Saturday, April 1 at the ESU Relays hosted by Emporia State University in Emporia, Kan.
