OTTAWA, Kan. – The OU women's basketball team ended the regular season on a two game winning streak, defeating York College 83-55 on Saturday afternoon in Wilson Field House. The Braves will now open KCAC Tournament play as the fifth seed on the road in Salina, Kan. against Kansas Wesleyan University on Thursday, Feb. 23.
OU rushed out to an 8-2 lead over York in the first quarter of play. The Panther scored the next four points, cutting OU's lead to 8-6. The two teams then exchanged baskets and with 4:29 on the clock, OU's lead was 13-10. The Brave defense would hold YC scoreless in the final four minutes of the quarter, outscoring the Panthers 9-0 and leading 22-10 at the end of the quarter.
York scored the first nine points of the second quarter, cutting OU's lead to 22-19. The Braves answered by going on a 15-0 run and taking a 37-19 lead on an Ashley Romig basket with 3:48 left in the half. York would get a basket from Sadie Pittman to cut OU's lead to 37-21.
Romig though scored six straight points, giving OU a 43-21 lead over the Panthers at the 1:21 mark. York was not able to make any head way on the OU lead in the final minutes of the half and the Braves took a 46-26 lead into the locker room.
In the opening minutes of the third quarter, a Kaylee Williams 3-pt field goal gave the Braves a 57-33 lead. OU would extend its lead to 62-35 with 52 seconds left in the quarter on a Kelsey Hendricks 3-pt field goal. York would get the final points of the quarter on two free throws by MacKenzie Grauberger and OU took a 62-36 lead into the fourth quarter.
OU pushed its lead to 37 points, 78-41, on a Madi Stewart basket with 3:53 left in the contest. OU was able to empty its bench and the Braves won on Senior Night 83-55.
Inside the box score
The Braves shot 52.5 percent from the floor, 27.3 percent from behind the 3-pt line, and 68.4 percent from the free throw line. OU had three players in double figures, led by Ashley Romig's double-double. She finished with 23 points and 10 rebounds. Madi Stewart scored 21 points and pulled down eight rebounds. Kaylee Williams finished the game with 13 points.

OU (18-12) is on the road to open the KCAC Tournament on Thursday, Feb. 23 in Salina, Kan. against the fourth seeded Kansas Wesleyan University Coyotes. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m. in Mabee Arena.
