OTTAWA, Kan. – The Ottawa University women's basketball team snapped its four game losing streak with a 71-57 victory over McPherson College on Thursday evening in Wilson Field House.
McPherson took a 5-0 lead over the Braves to open the contest. The Braves responded by going on an 8-2 run, taking an 8-7 lead on two free throws by Jessica King. The Bulldogs though retook the lead and with 1:47 on the clock led 14-10. OU scored the next five points, taking a 15-14 lead on an Ashley Romig basket with 20 seconds left. McPherson though would get the final basket of the quarter on a Kristina Battle 3-pt field goal at the buzzer to take a 17-15 lead at the end of the first.
OU scored the first five points of the quarter, taking a 20-17 lead over McPherson. The Braves built upon their lead and with 7:35 left in the half, led 27-19. The Bulldogs answered, cutting into OU's lead and with 2:41 on the clock the Braves lead was 29-26.
Romig scored the next four points for OU, giving the Braves a 33-26 lead. A basket by MC's Danielle Holt cut OU's lead to 33-28. A free throw by Romig gave OU a 34-28 lead with 46 seconds left in the half. The Bulldogs though would get the final point of the half, a free throw by Kristina Battle, and OU led 39-29.
The Braves increased their lead to start the third. A 3-pt field goal by Jenna Kramer gave OU a 41-31 lead over McPherson. The Braves continued to build upon its lead and with 3:42 left in the quarter OU had a 49-34 lead on a 3-pt field goal by Kelsey Hendricks. McPherson was not able to cut into OU's leads in the final minutes of third and OU took a 55-40 lead into the fourth.
McPherson cut OU's lead to nine points, 60-51, with 4:57 left in the fourth. The Braves though would get a 3-pt play from Katlyn Hughes to push the lead back to double digits. Those nine points would be all the closer the Bulldogs would get to OU as the Braves took the 71-57 victory.

OU shot 45.1 percent from the floor, 26.3 percent from behind the 3-pt line, and 87 percent from the free throw line. Ashley Romig shot 11-for-12 from the field and 9-for-12 from the free throw line to score 31 points. She finished the night with a double-double, tallying 12 rebounds. Romig also had five blocks. Kaylee Williams scored 11 points and Jenna Kramer scored 10 points. Kramer finished with fivre assists and four steals. Madi Stewart had six assists.

OU (17-12, 13-8) finishes up the regular season on Saturday, Feb. 18 in Wilson Field House against York College. Game time is set for 5:00 p.m. The Braves will honor its three seniors; Kaylee Williams, Madi Stewart, and Ashley Romig.
