OTTAWA, Kan. – The Ottawa University women's tennis program is pleased to announce the signing of Lexis Hibbs for the 2014-15 school year. She is from Wellington, Kan. and is a transfer from Washburn University. Hibbs attended Wellington High School.
Hibbs spent two and a half years at Washburn University. This past fall at WU, she appeared in one singles match and two doubles matches. She went 0-1 in singles and 1-1 in doubles with partner Rachael Hageman. In her redshirt freshman season, Hibbs played in three singles matches and six doubles matches. She finished the season 1-2 in singles and 2-4 in doubles. Hibbs won her first round match in the Bethany Invitational E singles flight and advanced to the consolation finals in the B doubles flight.
At Wellington High School, Hibbs earned four letters in tennis and softball for the Crusaders. She won the Kansas 4A State Doubles Championship as a senior (2010) and helped lead WHS to the team title. Hibbs placed second in doubles at the Kansas State Tournament as a junior (2009), and eighth as a sophomore (2008). She was a three-time All-District selection and holds WHS school record for most career wins.
Hibbs is the daughter of Linn and Lynnette Hibbs and plans to major in physical education. She is transferring to OU in the spring semester and will compete as a junior in the fall of 2014.
