KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Ottawa University had eight teams named NAIA Scholar teams. Volleyball (3.35), women's outdoor track and field (3.23), men's golf (3.21), men's outdoor track and field (3.20), women's soccer (3.15), men's cross country (3.09), women's cross country (3.05) and softball (3.05). The Iowa Wesleyan volleyball team is the 2009-10 NAIA Scholar-Team of the Year, the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced on Tuesday. The Lady Tigers, under the direction of head coach Jill Blake, finished in the top spot with a 3.82 grade point average during the 2009-10 academic year. A record total of 857 teams, an increase over last year’s total of 837, received the award.

LEXINGTON, Ky. - The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) announced today that 450 teams have earned the AVCA Team Academic Award for the 2009-2010 season. This number once again smashes the previous years' total of 409 and sets a new all-time high for this award. For the first time in program history the Ottawa University volleyball team has earned the award. OU is one of three three KCAC schools to earn the award.
